ENG Introduction to Functional Discourse Grammar

Friday December 4th, Friday December 11th, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

A brief introductory course on Functional Discourse Grammar – FDG (Hengeveld, Kees, Mackenzie Lachlan Functional Discourse Grammar. A typologically-based theory of language structure. Oxford, Oxford University 2008) will be given by Paolo Driussi, Reader at the University of Udine, on Friday 4th and 11th of December, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the University of Udine.
This introduction will deal with general aspects of the theory.
In March or April there will be a follow-up about possible applications of the theory, based mainly on: Evelien Keizer A Functional Discourse Grammar for English. Oxford, Oxford University 2015, and enriched with the experience of the speaker in teaching Hungarian.

For those who can’t attend the meeting on Dec. 4th, a summary of the first part will be given on Dec. 11th from 10.30 am.

The introduction is conceived for specialists who want to know something about this theory or discuss some aspects of it. Some knowledge about linguistics is required. Collegues, Doctoral students, MA students are welcome, but anybody can attend.
